Happy 4th shredders– dang, summer’s happening fast eh? We’ve barely had a minute to get to the lake with all the boarding coming through; between AKamp, COC, low-key split missions, and the stuff creeping in across the border the ol’ lightboard is buzzing. Boarding is really good right now.
Since our last update Lucas Ouellette pushed a garden of transition into the Horstman Glacier, Cole Jandrisch and Blake Kurchak ventured out of Whistler to surf and party in Tofino, Kevin Sansalone dusted off his handplant, and Marie-France Roy got an early grab frontside air in a bowl on her skateboard. Hugo Dubé-Bouchard grabbed stale to lip, Arthur Pelletier got hesh with some firecrackers, and Janaye Prieb won herself a fresh Arbor deck playing SNO at camp. The Vans Hi-Standard brought Canada Day some Renee Renee flavour and enough spin-under-seven style to move over a G into shredders’ pockets. We heard rumours of DOPE Snowboards, Dave Henkel scouted lines in the Cascades, and Josh Dooley caught himself a whole mess of solid photos.
And here at SBC we played around with concepts for collaborations and our (Fall!) return to print. We linked up with the crew at SBC Surf to look at proofs of their new issue, messed around with designs, and got weird working on new pages. We’re beyond stoked to show you what we’ve been working on in the fall. For now, though, we want to reassure you that we’re working our asses off over here to make sure that this relaunch goes off right. You guys are doing your part– you’re putting hefty amounts of rad into the world with your boarding. You’re keeping the story of our culture alive, adding new chapters and creating new ways to enjoy lives of sideways times. And we know you need a magazine that’s gonna keep your stoke going, chronicle your stories, and continue to connect boarders across our country. Keep the submissions coming, hit us up with all your questions, tag us on the gram. Let us know when we’re on it and when we’re off, and tell us if we’re missing out on something awesome.
We’re gonna leave it more or less at that– we’ve got hella organizing to get back to, both for Rat Race and the demo/GOP conventions coming up this month. Sh*t’s about to pop! But before we jump back into it, we wanted to share this goodness from the Pocket Figures boys at Dagmar. Sounds like the dudes are working on a bit of a rebrand for 16/17 and this one has a bit of a goodbye vibe, but the way we see it change tends to work out when it leaves room for boarders to try something new. Dagmar #2 features Nick Elliott, Martyn Vachon, Geoff Bowler, Ben Poechman, Colter Heard, Cooper Dykeman, Liam aka BOOBEYES, Harrison Long, Keenan Norton, Quin Ellul, and is supported by Dagmar , Union, Switch, Capita, Beaver Wax, DWD ,Salmon Arms, Duh Bolts
