Our testers rode some unique snowboards during the 2014 Grade Eh Board Tests, but nothing quite as unique as the Ride Alter Ego.
The Alter Ego is Ride’s response to the powder board movement. Instead of following suit, Ride separated themselves from the pack by developing their own style of swallowtail called split tail technology. The tail can either be clipped for charging on hard pack or unclipped for riding powder. Our testers found this board performed at its best in deep snow, but could hold its own in any terrain, except for maybe riding rails. Ride’s innovation landed the Alter Ego in the Grade Eh Top 10.
Quotes From Our Testers
“On the outside this looks like a one-trick pow pony, but it’s way more than that. Groomers, side hits and slackcountry slashes; this board does it all.”
“Wow, this board is a snow plow! Open it up on a cruiser and it rails hard with solid edge hold. Unlock the tail in pow and you get independent flex for maximum slash potential. The directional shape and blunted nose smash through powder, but keeps you up on top for a stellar ride.”
