A presentation of Mazda in collaboration with Vidéotron Mobile

Québec City, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 – Over the years, Snowboard Jamboree has become the not-to-be- missed snowboard festival in the Québec City area. For a 10th edition presented by Mazda in collaboration with Vidéotron Mobile, the event will host the 16th FIS Snowboard World Cup from February 19 to 22 in downtown Québec City and at Stoneham Mountain Resort. Big Air and Slopestyle will be the headline events, but there will also tons more fun and cultural activities for amateur boarders and families throughout the four days of the festival!

Big Air to kick off the event

The action gets underway tonight at IÌ‚lot Fleurie as 52 athletes signed up for the FIS Big Air World Cup presented by Vidéotron Mobile train for the very first time on an impressive platform that’s 35 metres (115 feet) high and 91 metres (300 feet) long. Wednesday evening sees the competition heat up with official qualifying that will see the very best through to the grand final on Friday. Crowds will be able to see the best riders in action from 6 p.m. And for the first time in the history of the Snowboard World Cup, 19 women will also be in action, wowing thousands of fans gathered below. Will Audrey McManiman, Québec’s only female rider, be able to write a new chapter of her own? After the Big Air winners have been crowned, the action will move on to Le Cercle, where the first Night Bazaar, the official Snowboard Jamboree party, will be held. The evening will combine snowboarding, art, music, and great food for a night to remember! (see other press release for details)

Stoneham at the weekend

Stoneham Mountain Resort will be a hive of activity Saturday and Sunday as it hosts the FIS Slopestyle World Cup presented by Mazda along with the SBJ Open ski & snow competitions, the family zone, exhibition area, and Bonkelog Camp. It’s gearing up to be an unforgettable weekend on the mountain! The impressive Slopestyle course has 39,000 m3 of snow, three 50-60 ft. Big Air style long jumps to start with, and two final rail obstacles—one of which will be a shipping container with a Mazda inside and a ramp on top! Québec’s own Charles Reid (Mont-Tremblant), Matts Kulisek (Montréal), Laurie Blouin (Stoneham), Audrey McManiman (St-Ambroise), and Anne-Frédérique Grenier (Beaupré) will all be hoping for a podium finish.
