Around 2010, the word started hearing about Icelandic phenom Eiki Helgason. The kid could put his switch-ups 90 degrees further, set re-directs from tighter angles, and make the heaviest spots look easier. Within years, Eiki and his brother Halldór won the hearts of the snowboarders around the world, pushing their riding and entrepreneurialism to signature projects, multiple brand start-ups, and household name status. Eiki’s latest project, Island Born, is the latest in Helgason lore, and as we’ve come to expect, the project is unique, fun, and executed masterfully. Created entirely in Iceland, Island Born consists of three releases: a zine, an Eiki full part, and a documentary tracing Eiki’s ascension to the world stage.  The zine and full part teaser dropped today, and will be followed by the part on December 5th and the doc on December 12th.

From Island Born:

ísland born is the latest project from Icelandic snowboarder: Eiki Helgason
The project is split into three sections: Zine, Full part, and Documentary.

The Zine is a collection of stories compiled by different people through Eiki’s life and career.
The Zine  will be available as a limited edition print copy
along the film’s European tour, which runs from 10/8 – 10/23

The  Full Part, which will be released online on 12/5
In align with trying to keep each season different and fresh, Eiki decided to film his entire part
in his home country of Iceland. Traveling throughout the country, finding spots
that have never been ridden before.

The Documentary, which has
snowboarding journalist and comedian, Stan Leveille traveling to Iceland
to try and understand how a farm boy from Iceland became a world renowned snowboarder.
The Documentary will be released online 12/12.
