In the mid-1970s Jake Burton Carpenter quit his New York City suit-and-tie job to follow a gut feeling that sliding on snow could become a lot more than it was. He moved to Londonderry, Vermont, and began building boards by hand, and In 1977 Jake made Burton Snowboards an official company. After almost four years in Londonderry he moved to a farm in nearby Manchester, where his operations slowly grew. The next year he met his future wife, Donna, who quickly became an integral part of building Burton into what it is today, including constant innovation, stacked teams of riders, and a range of gear that constantly propels Snowboarding forward.
This year, Burton is celebrating it’s 50th year and 5 distinct eras of snowboarding with 5 major product drops, because that’s just what you do when you hit the big 5-0 and the first drop Includes the limited reissue Men’s 50/50 80’s Powdershell 3L Jacket and matching pants inspired by the original 1985 Powder Shell jacket, Built with modern 3-layer waterproof, breathable 20K/20K performance fabric, pit zips, and a removable hood looking oh so retro while still keeping it up to date in 2026, as well as Heavyweight tees and an archive-inspired beanie complete the collection with details defined by the early days of experimentation. Four more decades of special collections will drop from October-February, each with their own snowboarding story to tell.
