The season started with a bang out in the Rockies!
And as usual for Banff, it was the girls kicking it off.

70 women signed up and joined the first (of many) Rude Girls Community Ride Day up high at Sunshine Village on Nov 19th only 2 weeks after Sunshine officially opened on the 2nd. Whilst other area’s saw floods, could still see dirt and getting their heads kicked in with seasonal confusion. The Bow Valley saw the most of early snow in Canada.

With the snow stacking the crew took no time to get scheming and get a community ride day in. These days are filled with a mix of new faces, long time community members and local onlookers seeing what it’s all about. From some entering the park for their first time and finding courage amongst new friends to hit their first box; to the usual suspects dusting the rust off with finesse on the rails.

These community events hold true and dear to the Bow Valley, holding its heritage deep to when their store opened in the year 2000. Women advocates such as Abbey Furrer, Ally Watson and Cori ‘Cornnnnnnn’ Stevens have helped born, grow and shape the women’s space with in snowboarding and these events are a testament to what happens when given the space. They thrive.

Sat below the strawberry Field chairlift at Sunshine Ski Resort, the resort put together a mic of features for them to progressively work on through-out the day;

  • Three boxes ranging from small to medium
  • tower tube with an ollie-on entry
    Perfect for letting riders build confidence, push their riding, and try something new in a supportive environment.

As always the vibes were high and the community value even higher! Cheers from all to encourage, prizes to fire up the stoke and of course the post event beer and DJ set by Cornnnnnnn!
Keep an eye out on the Rude Girls Instagram for more updates through out the season for more events.
Supported by  Vans CanadaAttitude Living, and Skullcandy— for helping make this day happen, and to everyone who came out and brought the energy. Here’s to an amazing start to the season and many more community ride days to come!
