We Caught up with some of the team to see their views ahead of Milan:

Cam Spalding:
“1st Olympics, hasn’t really set in until now!
Super excited, we have a sick team.
It’s been pretty insane, it was always the dream to go to the Olympics. It’s really great that we have a good pathway to build up from provincial level to National, world cups and now this.
I started competing from the age of 6 in Ontario and its snowballed since and fell involve with competing. The adrenaline from it, the pre run nerves, standing with your friends and teammates waiting to drop its such a high and I love it!
The whole Canadian team always influenced me growing up, especially Mark McMorris. It’s really surreal to go from watching him to now riding with him all the time here in whistler and now sharing the olympics together. It’s pretty insane!”

Darcy Sharpe getting his seats picked for his Air Canada flight to support Team Canada which includes Olympic skier Sister Cassie Sharpe.

Laurie Blouin:
‘Really excited, This is my 3rd Olympics! I’m going in to this Olympics with a really nice mindset. I’m unsure if this is my last or not but I’m enjoying going at everything with a little less pressure and taking everything in, all the little moments. Taking this experience back to the purity and joy of snowboarding. Whilst I’m still feeling I’m at the height of my game I’m really looking forward to seeing the next generation of women coming in with Jubes (Julia) Pelchat and to see how she does in her first Olympics.’

Mark Mcmorris:
The Veteran of the team going into his 4th Olympics.
‘It feels great, Its an ever so progressive sport. Ever changing, it’s amazing that I can be riding at a level to continue going to the olympics and showing up just feels incredible. Staying in good shape and healthy and I’m super looking forward to it.
I’ve had some success in Livigno in the past, they used to have some really fun events there in the past. It’s going to be great being back and have a bunch of friends and family there too, it’s going to be a good time!
I’m really excited to see a lot of younger first timers, It’s nice to see and be around. There’s no jadedness, they’re seeing it all from a new perspective for the first time. Everything is new and their attitudes are always contagious to me! Although you’re there as a solo rider, you’re also there a something bigger with being part of Team Canada and that’s a super special thing to be a part of with the Olympics.’
