Okay, but not really because Mike Stastook is not so great at sitting still. If you follow him on the gram you’ll note he has been busy #stayinghome doing some #backyardboarding with his kiddos – talk about rad dad status. But let’s be honest, he’s also clocking some screen time scrolling his favorite IG accounts. So who exactly inspires one of the greatest snowboard coaches in Canada? We asked and Stastook answered.

Mike Stastook’s kids, this is home school when your dad is snowboard coach.

INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS YOU SHOULD FOLLOW ACCORDING TO MIKE STASTOOK

@sebtoots Seb Toots is crushing the isolation time. In fact, he is thriving in it. Look at his challenges/obstacle courses that he sets up for himself in his house. And you know he has lots of stacked footy, some that you have seen and some that you haven’t – stay tuned for some of the raddest content coming your way in the upcoming weeks.

@chadchomlack Photographers always have shots to stoke us out. Currently, Chad is raising funds for the Pemberton Food Bank by shooting portraits of families on their porches (from a safe social distance of course). He’s the nicest dude on the planet. And the best Dad. Follow him for the goods.

Inspired as always by @zoyalynch and her porch- raits initiative in Revelstoke and my own desire to simply document this unprecedented time in our little town of Pemberton, I am looking for participants to show up in your windows, on your porches or balconies or tucked into your doorways. Most likely I will drive up in my truck, be wearing a mask and not even get out. Lol. I will ensure that I am staying at least 10 feet away. And you show up just as you are- I will not be posing you- this is not a family photoshoot- just a chance to capture this time in history. The images will be emailed to you for a minimum $25.00 donation to the Pemberton food bank. As difficult as this time is I know we will want to remember it. My wife and I always use the term "it all belongs" and now more than ever we are seeing that. In the fear and grief of this time there is also connection and resilience. We experience it here in this little mountain town every night at 7pm when everyone opens their windows to make noise in support of our essential workers. I am humbled and in awe of the good that is happening in the wake of this pandemic. And I want to remember. Message me for more details. If you are an essential worker I would also like to photograph you outside of your workplace and gift the image to you and your co workers. Message me and we can see how to make that safely happen. #itallbelongs

@daveschmidtrodriguez Dave is the king of finding snow and crushing awesome tricks. He has been putting out more clips since being in isolation than he was in-season. What a boss. Keep your eyes peeled for his clips

@jonpchew Banff content king. Jon rips at everything he does from skating, shredding, travelling, cooking bread etc. Nothing this guy can’t do including crushing quarantine time.

@robinvangyn Always hilarious and adventuring and nature-loving shredder. I’m sure she has lots of fun stuff upcoming on her gram

@truthdsmith For sure this kid. He’s been posting so many backyard clips on snow and he has a mini ramp (sick skater). He is a ripping boarder, and participates in all the challenges. No brainer here. He’s the new social media kid.

MORE COACH’S INSIGHT
Wanna get inside a coach’s head? Yeah, we did do, so we had him write a pretty dang detailed thing about it in the latest print issue of Snowboard Canada. Order one up here and read something tangible for once.
